Opel have released the new Mokka – the 3rd generation. And this all new iteration is clearly the best yet – not only because it has a magic engine mated to an all new automatic gearbox. Nor because it has a completely customisable digital dash and a massage function on the seats for the driver (in the high spec version), or that the fuel consumption looks to be better than average for a 1.2 Turbo, or that it looks good and handles well but also because it’s pitched into one of the most competitive segments in the vehicle sales space.

Priced at R519k for the top spec version and R469k for the well appointed ‘entry level’ version the Mokka may find it has some hurdles to overcome because it is not cheap relative to some other competitors. However, the spec package that comes with both versions of these cars cannot be denied and buyer preference here will win the day. Some deft touches to the Mokka we think will show in the sales figures – we’ll know more once we’ve driven it formally.

Note the subtle blacked out Opel insignia – I liked that. Green is a lovely stand out colour and the blue pops..
