Ford EcoSport Active Launch
Alan shows us this little car…
The Ford EcoSport has been available in SA for the last 10 years and been a great success with over 75 000 units sold in this time. It currently still sells in excess of 700 units per month, proving it’s continuing popularity.
Ford have also become masters at delivering special edition models that offer added spec and value to existing models while still keeping them current and relevant.
Enter the EcoSport Active model as launched today. Based on the middle spec Trend model, it adds numerous trim, technology, luxury and safety items to the basic package. All this for a premium of only R18 000 over the price of the standard Trend model.
The Active is powered by the popular and highly awarded 1L 3 cylinder turbo Ecoboost motor with 92kW and 170Nm powering the front wheels through a 6 speed torque convertor automatic transmission. The little turbo motor is peppy and offers excellent performance and response although the gearbox can tend to hunt at times,
Starting from the exterior, the Active is available in some very special colours including Luxe Yellow as we drove. Lots of extra black treatment, very special 17″ alloy wheels and black roof distinguish the Active from other models in the range.
On the inside, the seats are trimmed in leather with contrasting stitching and the 8 ‘ touchscreen includes Fords Sync Connectivity. The Active also boasts a high level of active and passive safety including Collision Mitigation and Active Braking.
The Active is the first model in the EcoSport range locally to now include the Ford Pass Technology. This enables owners to link to their car through a smartphone enabling you to unlock the car, start the engine and perform many other functions remotely.
As stated earlier, the Active carries a premium of R18 000 which means a total cost of R393 700.
